The Department of Emergency Medicine at UMKC/University Health celebrates its 50th anniversary this year! In 1973 our program, established by Dr. W. Kendall McNabney, began when he brought his surgical expertise home to "Old General" Hospital on Hospital Hill. 50 years later we are still graduating the most highly trained Emergency Physicians who then go on to care for patients and train others around the globe!

We will have light hors d’oeuvres, along with beer and wine, available for everyone but hopefully you’ll save room to go have dinner at one of Kansas City’s top restaurants in the downtown area.
Take a peek at our webpage, our very own residents have hand selected some great restaurants for you to try over the weekend. Afterwards, you can check out a speakeasy at Swordfish Tom’s or try some fancy cocktails at Monarch Bar. We do recommend making reservations a couple weeks ahead of time.
Diastole Parking: Reserved parking at Diastole (2501 Holmes) is in Lot 68. You will enter from E. 25th Street between Charlotte and Campbell.
Please Note: Unfortunately, due to Diastole rules children under 18 years of age are not allowed within the building.
Come join us for the main event on Saturday night at Kansas City’s fully restored Loose Mansion! This historic mansion will be home to an elegant evening of delicious food and delightful company. Attire is anything you choose, but likely most will be in business casual to formal wear. Start off with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres at 5 PM which will be followed by dinner/dancing. End your evening at our casino night downstairs. Unfortunately we can’t accommodate children at this time for the event.
Make sure to check out the hotels/accommodations section of the webpage. We have a block of rooms set aside for both Friday and Saturday night. We’ve also suggested other hotels in the Country Club Plaza and downtown area. Loose mansion is conveniently located in between.
Loose Mansion Parking: There are approximately 250 parking spaces available in total. This includes the parking spaces directly around the mansion, the leased-out lot directly across the street, and the leased-out lot adjacent to the back of our building. Please know that there will be an off-duty police officer directing parking during the event. The off-duty police officer will also be there to walk guests to and from their care at the end of the event.
Do you love whiskey??
Well come join us at Loose mansion for an exclusive whiskey tasting event. Our spirit-minded faculty have hand selected a variety of notable whiskeys for you to explore.
At the event, you get to enjoy the company of a sommelier who is also certified by the Council of Whiskey Masters. This specialist will guide your experience from dram to dram, helping you identify the defining differences that make each whiskey unique.
Once you have purchased your whiskey tasting ticket we will reach out to you personally to give you more information closer to the event. But, book your spot quickly! We have limited space for this very special event. Ticket price includes access to the exclusive pre-ceremony event and a commemorative whiskey themed gift. All proceeds benefit the UMKC Emergency Medicine Residency Alumni fund.
